AUBURN, Ala. - Four members of the Auburn men's swimming and diving team, as well as former men's and women's Tiger swimmers, competed Saturday at the Missouri Grand Prix in Columbia, Mo. The current Tigers swam in hopes posting qualifying marks that will advance them to the NCAA Championships March 15-17 in Minneapolis, Minn.
Jakob Andkjaer was the lone current member of the Auburn team to swim in an A final Saturday, finishing third in the 100m free with a time of 50.16 seconds. In the 200m fly, Mark Johnson and Jordan Anderson swam in the D final, with Johnson taking the heat in 2:02.17, with Anderson finishing second in 2:05.51. Former Tiger Eric Shanteau also swam in the 200m fly, finishing fifth in the A final with a time of 2:05.71.
Pascal Wollach was the other current Tiger to compete Saturday, finishing second in the D final of the 200m back with a mark of 2:05.50.
A pair of former women's swimmers are also competing in Columbia. In the 50m back on Friday, Margaret Hoelzer was fourth in 30.20 seconds, while Jana Kolukanova was 13th with a time of 31.84. Hoelzer was also fifth in the 50m fly on Friday (27.96) and fourth in the A final of the 200m fly on Saturday (2:15.79). Kolukanova also swam Saturday, finishing fifth in the B final in the 100m free with a mark of 57.02 seconds.
Action at the Missouri Grand Prix continues through Monday.
