The Auburn women's golf team carded a second round 284 Saturday to take the lead at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, played at the par 72, 6,168-yard Coco Beach Golf Course. Sophomore Mariana Macias improved two spots and is in a tie for first after matching her day one score of two-under par.

"I was proud of the girls for really stepping collectively today," head coach Kim Evans said. "Everyone went even or below par today and that enabled us to take the lead. We will need to keep that momentum going tomorrow in order for us to win the tournament."

The Tigers (292-284--576) shot eight strokes below Friday's team total, 292, and five strokes better than second place Oklahoma State, 289, and are now at even par. Saturday's round of 284 was the best round for Auburn ever at the Classic as the Tigers are making their third appearance.

All five Tigers competitors turned in even par or below on Saturday and each improved their positions in the individual race. Macias duplicated her performance from Friday turning in another two-under par (70-70--140). Candace Schepperle is in a five-way tie for fifth after a second round even par (72-72--144).
