Auburn Men's Golf One Shot Off Lead Entering Seminole Intercollegiate Final Round

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Auburn men's golf team is in second place, one shot off the lead with a 290-288--578 after the second round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,041-yard Golden Eagle Country Club Monday. No. 12 North Carolina scorched the field with a 7-under 281 to claim the lead at 296-281--577.

Patton Kizzire, who was 6-under over his final six holes Sunday, shot a second round 70 and is tied for second with a 2-under 142, one shot off the individual lead. Gordon Strother birdied the final hole to finish at 1-under 71 and is tied for fifth at 72-71--143.

Jay Moseley is tied for 18th with a pair of 73s for a 2-over 146, Glenn Northcutt is tied for 25th with a 73-74--147 and Andrew Medley is tied for 68th with a 80-77--157.

"It was a good day for us, and we have some guys up there on the leaderboard," head coach Mike Griffin said. "We are in position to have a solid tournament. We need to get off to a good start tomorrow and finish strong."

Northwestern is in third with a 294-290--584 followed by Ole Miss (297-289--586), No. 24 Florida State (300-286--586), UAB (295-292--587), Mississippi State (290-299--589), No. 14 East Tennessee State (302-291--593), Central Florida (299-294--593), Virginia (302-292--594), LSU (303-293--596), College of Charleston (293-303--596), Vanderbilt (301-296--597), North Carolina State (304-296--600) and Toledo (313-300--613).

East Tennessee State's Rhys Davies (73-68--141) holds the individual lead, one shot ahead of a trio of golfers tied for second.

Auburn will tee off in the final round of the three-day, 54-hole tournament Tuesday from the No. 1 tee at 8 am Central with North Carolina and Northwestern. The Tigers will be looking for their first team victory since the 2006 Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate and their first away from Auburn since 2003.
