West Point, Miss. - The Auburn women's golf team shot a 14-over 302 and remain in ninth place after two rounds at the SEC Championship held at the par 72, 6,432-yard Old Waverly course located in West Point, Miss.
"We have one round left tomorrow and our goal still remains to be patient and play the golf we know how to play," head coach Kim Evans said. "As expected, the competition is very strong and many of the team's have been making great shots. We just want to come out tomorrow and finish out this tournament strong."
Auburn shot a 14-over 302 on the day led by freshman Candace Schepperle, who shot 1-over 73. C.Schepperle jumped five places from yesterday and is currently tied for 18th. Individually, Georgia's Garrett Phillips (67-72--139) holds a one-stroke lead over South Carolina's Jenna Pearson (6-under 66) and Tennessee's Marci Turner (even par), who are tied for second.
Auburn's Nicole Hage and Marisa Milligan are tied for 22nd. Hage shot another 3-over 75 (75-75--150), while Milligan carded a 6-over 78 (72-78--150). Margaret Shirley fired a 4-over 76 and is tied for 32nd. Abigale Schepperle recorded a 6-over 78 and is tied for 47th.
Georgia continues to lead the field after shooting a 3-over 291 today. The Lady Bulldogs are followed by South Carolina, who finished 1-over 289, and Tennessee, 8-over 296. Alabama and Florida are tied for fourth, with Arkansas, LSU and Vanderbilt following. The Tigers lead Mississippi State, Kentucky and Ole Miss.
