Auburn twice held a one-goal lead over Georgia and both times the #20 Georgia soccer team answered as Auburn fell to Georgia, 3-2, on Thursday evening at the Auburn Soccer Complex in the final home match for Auburn.

"That is a heartbreaker for sure," Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa said. "We did enough to win. We made two defensive mistakes and Georgia did a great job of capitalizing on them. You have to give a lot of credit to Carrie Patterson in scoring both of those goals. We played our hearts out."

Carrie Patterson scored twice for Georgia, tying the game at 1-1 in the 58th minute and at 2-2 in the 81st minute before Natalie Farley scored the game-winner for Georgia in the 83rd minute, connecting from 25-yards out for her first goal of the season.

Auburn took a 1-0 lead just 3:45 into the game when Stephanie Fransoso connected on her third goal of the season off of an Auburn corner kick. From that point until halftime it was Allison Whitworth that kept it a one-goal Auburn advantage as the junior made spectacular save after spectacular save, recording five total in the first half.

After seeing halftime their lead vanquish with Patterson's first goal, Caitlin King and the freshly inserted Rebecca Howell, seeing her first action of the night, hooked up just four-and-a-half minutes later to regain Auburn's lead at 2-1, but it would not stand as Auburn fell to 9-6-1, 5-4-0 SEC.

Georgia improved to 13-2-2, 6-1-2 SEC.

Auburn will play next at Tennessee on Sunday at 2pm ET.
