Tuscaloosa, Ala. - The seventh-ranked Auburn women's golf team shot a 17-over 301 and are in sixth after the first round of the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate held at the par 71 5,963-yard NorthRiver Golf Club in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Freshman Sarah Thead is tied for fourth after firing even par.
Arkansas leads the team race after shooting 11-over 295. Louisville is in second (297), followed by Notre Dame (298), Furman (299) and South Carolina). The Lady Razorbacks Stacy Lewis is the individual leader at 3-under 68.
Playing as an individual, Thead, of Poway, Calif., turned in Auburn's best performance of the day. She had four birdies on the day, three of which came on the back nine, as she finished even par and is in a three-way tie for fourth.
Freshman Cydney Clanton continued to shine, as she shot 1-over and is tied for seventh. Clanton finished strong with back-to-back birdies on 17 and 18. Tied for 19th is sophomore Marisa Milligan who shot 4-over 75. Senior's Abigale Schepperle and Margaret Shirley are tied for 36th after firing 6-over 77. Sophomore Candace Schepperle is tied for 48th as she shot 7-over 78.
