ATLANTA - The Auburn University men's diving team returned to action Sunday, competing in the platform diving at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Auburn's Kelly Marx led the Tigers with a runner-up finish in the event, coming in just under 10 points behind Miami's Reuben Ross with a score of 367.65.

"I am very pleased with the way Kelly Marx competed today," said head coach Jeff Shaffer. "He was within 10 points of where he was at NCAAs last year and that was with three new dives off the 10 meter platform."

Auburn's Dan Mazzaferro rounded out the top five with a score of 319.90 while Scott Morgan (231.65) came in 11th. Marx's and Mazzaferro's dives are both NCAA zone-qualifying scores.

"Overall, we came in a little bit under what our expectations were," said Shaffer. "But, it is still early in the season and we can see where we are and we can get better."
