AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Rasheem Barrett scored 24 points and was 9-of-11 shooting on the night to lead the Tigers past Presbyterian College 78-65 Tuesday night.
Barrett also led Auburn (12-5, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) with 10 rebounds for his second career double-double and was 4-of-5 from the 3-point line. DeWayne Reed had 12 points for the Tigers while Quan Prowell added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Auburn's Matt Heramb had 11 points off the bench while Frank Tolbert and Lucas Hargrove each had 8 points.
"We shot the ball well, but we were a little lackadaisical at times, especially when we had a big lead in the second half," Head Coach Jeff Lebo said. "Rasheem Barrett had 10 rebounds and 24 points on 11 shots. Matt Heramb did well shooting from the perimeter. They had a lot of little guys who could run. They spread their offense out and were able to make baskets that way."
As a team, Auburn shot 19-of-38 from the 3-point line in back-to-back SEC victories against LSU and No. 17 Ole Miss. The Tigers continued their hot streak going 9-of-16 against the Blue Hose (2-21).
After a 17-6 run in the second half, Auburn led 57-44. After a late 19-11 run by Presbyterian with 1:54 left in the game, Auburn led 75-65. But the Tigers held Presbyterian without a field goal the rest of the game to hold on for their third straight victory.
Presbyterian struggled rebounding the ball. The Blue Hose finished with just 22 rebounds to Auburn's 39.
Josh Johnson led Presbyterian with 16 points while Bryan Bostic added 11 points. Pat Kiscaden added 12 points off the bench for the Blue Hose.
