Auburn Track and Field Teams Travel to Iowa and Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark./ AMES, Ia. - The Auburn Track and Field Teams embarked on their first day of a three-meet tour at the Tyson Invitational and Iowa State Classic. Jacob Dunkleberger was the Tigers first place finisher on the opening day of competition.

Iowa

Jacob Dunkleberger won the men's weight throw with a toss of 70.10.75 (21.61m). Dunkleberger is a two-time All-American in the weight throw and finished fifth at the NCAA Indoor Championships. On the women's side, Valentina Srsa placed 13th with a throw of 58.08.

The running events saw action from two Tigers. Scott Novack competed in the men's 5000m run placing an impressive third with a time of 14.21.52. Joby Peake also competed in the 5000m for the Tigers (15.01.66). Laurel Pritchard took to the track for the women in the 5000m clocking in at 17.08.55.

Arkansas

Danielle Gilchrist (8.52) and Ty Akins (7.82) raced in the preliminaries for the men's and women's 60 mh. The women's 400m preliminaries contained four Tigers. Joanna Atkins improved on her provisional mark with a time of 52.95. Amelia Anderson (55.64), DeAngela McDougald (56.13), and Latoya Parkinson (57.46) competed in the 400m as well.

Tigers conclude competiton at the two meets on Saturday. Auburn will also compete at the Husky Classic.
