Auburn Equestrian Sweeps Doubleheader Defeating Oklahoma State 10-9

Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn equestrian team (8-2) defeated Oklahoma State (8-2) 10-9 at the Auburn Equestrian Center Sunday. The Tigers defeated the Cowgirls 6-4 in Western, but lost 5-4 in Hunt Seat. Auburn swept the weekend doubleheader by defeating Baylor 10-7.

"Oklahoma State is a good team," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "Horsemanship did well in several areas. Our Reiners were phenomenal. They're impossible to beat when they're on top of their game."

Oklahoma State edged Auburn in Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences 3-2 behind MVP Ally Blais, who defeated Jessica Braswell 85-84. Other Cowgirl winners included Bailey Mahoney over Dottie Grubb 82-76 and Natalie Chappell over Jenny Reinhart 72-40. Tiger winners included Anna Schierholz over Hannah Beresford 81-74 and Ali Loprete over Jaclyn Osterstock 71-69.

Auburn tied Oklahoma State 2-2 in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat. Auburn's Rebecca Rifkin earned MVP honors defeating Sarah Summers 86-82. Other Tiger winners included Ali Loprete over Charlotte Collingsworth 81-79. Cowgirl winners included Sam Collingsworth over Coburn Park 86-85 and Michelle Woolschlager over Chelsea Anheuser 80-79. Tying with a score of 85 were Auburn's Katie Breedlove and Oklahoma State's Bailey Mahoney.

Oklahoma State edged Auburn in Western Horsemanship 3-2 behind MVP Sam Davidson, who defeated Kylie Miller 77.5-74. Other Cowgirl winners included Courtney Whitacre over Ashley Milton 74.5-73.5 and Ashley Koch over Jessica Jones 76.5-74. Tiger winners included Avery Sams over Jordan Pickelman 73.5-72.5 and Kimberly Tidwell over Suzanne Randolph 72.5-69.5.

Auburn won Reining 4-1 behind MVP Lyndsey Jordan, who edged Jacque Roberts 78.5-78. Other Tiger winners included Julie Gibbes over Bri Parnell 78-74, Ashton Fairey over Rachell Shobe 70.5-69.5 and Paige Monfore over Molly Tipton 75-69.5. Cowgirl winners included Leah Kuehn over Kimberly Tidwell 74-73.5.

"This was a really good win for us," said Williams. "We'll have a tough week of practice to get ready for our next opponent."

Auburn has an off week then goes on the road to face Fresno State and New Mexico State Mar. 1.
