SOUTH BEND, Ind. - - The Auburn men's and women's track and field teams took part in a light opening day of competition at the Meyo Invitational hosted by Notre Dame. The Tigers had six women and three men competing on the first day.
In the women's high jump, junior Raevan Harris won the event with a provisional qualifying mark of 1.78m (5-10). Harris became the third Auburn woman this season to provisionally qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships with her jump.
Sabrina Fischer ran in the 1000m with a time of 2:56.25 to finish 10th. Freshman Latoya Parkinson competed in the 300m for the Tigers placing 12th with a time of 41.03. Finishing out the running events for the women was Laurel Pritchard placing 14th with a time of 17:31.61. In the long jump, Danielle Threatt was 24th with a mark of 5.49m (18-0.25).
In the men's camp, Bernard Spivey (35.55) and Stephen Fly (36.27) raced for the Tigers in the 300m, finishing 21st and 31st, respectively. Freshman Joby Peake finished out the running events in the 5000m with a time of 15.22.95 to place 29th.
Competition at the Meyo Invitational concludes Saturday.
