FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The No. 8 Auburn women's golf team posted a second round 18-over-306 Saturday and is in 14th place at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Golf Course in Franklin, Tenn. Auburn's Candace Schepperle (67-70--137) is in second place and a single-stroke off of the lead.
Third-ranked UCLA moved to the top of the leader board on a 13-under-275 and hold a six-stroke lead over sixth-ranked Oklahoma State (282--568¬). Vanderbilt moved into third place (281--572), followed by top-ranked Southern California (285--573) and No. 5 Duke (287--579) at fourth and fifth, respectively. No. 2 Arizona State (291--580), No. 15 Florida (296--588), No. 7 Alabama (292--590), No. 12 Purdue (294--596) and No. 18 Arkansas (299--597) round out the top 10.
UT-Chattanooga (292--600) jumped into 11th, with No. 10 Wake Forest (301--601), No. 17 Arizona (306--603), Tennessee (299--606), No. 19 Stanford (297--610) and Central Florida (304--613) following.
For the second day, Schepperle led the squad with the only sub-par round by carding a 2-under-70. The junior registered a birdie on No. 10, the first hole the Tigers' teed off on and she picked up another on No. 17. She had another pair of birdies on the front nine. Schepperle trails Vanderbilt's Megan Grehan (71-65--136) for the lead.
Mariana Macias closed out the second round with a birdie on the par-4 No. 9 to post a 6-over-78 and is tied for 79th.
The Tigers had three players, Cydney Clanton, Patricia Sanz and Sarah Thead, card a 7-over-79. Clanton is in a four-way tie for 48th, Sanz is in a six-way tie for 72nd and Thead is in a four-way tie for 83rd.
Freshman Madison Overbey, a non-scorer for Auburn, is in a six-way tie for 72nd after posting a second-round 2-over-74.
Auburn will tee off from No. 10 at 8:20 a.m. Sunday and be paired with Tennessee and Arizona.
