Auburn Golf Finishes Eighth In Hawaii

The Auburn men's golf team finished the 2009 John Burns Intercollegiate on Friday in eighth place, led by a final round 70 from junior Cole Moreland.

Following Moreland was senior Glen Northcutt (73-212) in a tie for 19th. Freshmen Kyle Kopsick (71-215) tied for 33rd. Freshman Will McCurdy finished with a 7-222 while redshirt freshman Jonathan Fly carded a 76-224.

"Cole Moreland has really shown the leadership that we have looked for out of our upperclassmen," said Auburn head coach Mike Griffin. "He played some very solid golf out here this week."

Texas A & M (836) claimed the title followed by New Mexico (839), Arizona (840), Arkansas (849), Denver (850), Colorado State (851), Reno (852), Auburn (853), SMU (854), San Diego (865), BYU (859), UNLV (864), UCSB (874), Hawaii (878), San Jose (882) and UTEP (890).

Auburn men's golf returns to action on March 6th at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla.
