Tallahassee, Fla. - The Auburn men's golf team is nine shots off the lead as it carded a nine-over 297 and is in ninth place after the first round of the Seminole Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,041-yard Golden Eagle Country Club Friday.
Freshman Kyle Kopsick is tied for 10th, shooting an even 72. Redshirt freshman Jonathan Fly is tied for 15th after carding a one-over 73, freshman Will McCurdy (75) is tied for 26th, senior Glenn Northcutt (77) is tied for 46th and sophomore Cole Moreland (79) is tied at 54th.
Competing individually, Keith White is also tied for 10th after firing an even 72.
"I am happy with the way Kyle Kopsick and Jonathan Fly played and Keith did well individually," said Auburn head coach Mike Griffin. "We are still within striking distance of the lead. Saturday is moving day, and we need to move in the right direction."
No. 25 Ole Miss (288) is in the lead followed by Virginia (289), Vanderbilt (290), No. 22 Florida State (292), Mississippi State (292), Mercer (293), UAB (296), No. 21 Arkansas (296), Auburn (297), Western Carolina (304), Maryland (308) and College of Charleston (310).
Ole Miss's Joe David and Vanderbilt's Ryan Haselden are tied for the individual lead firing five-under 67s.
