TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Auburn men's golf team shot a one-under par 287 in the third round to finish eighth at 885 in the Seminole Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,041-yard Golden Eagle Country Club Sunday.
Freshman Will McCurdy (67-217) tied for 10th, four shots off the individual lead.
Freshman Kyle Kopsick (73-219) tied for 18th, redshirt freshman Jonathan Fly (75-224) tied for 32nd, senior Glenn Northcutt (72-227) tied for 47th and sophomore Cole Moreland (76-231) tied for 51st.
Senior Keith White (76-226) tied for 43rd competing as an individual.
"I am happy with the way the guys came out and put together their best round of the tournament," said head coach Mike Griffin. "We just need to do that from day one. Will McCurdy's play was encouraging and that is something we can build off of."
Vanderbilt (287-863) finished first followed by Virginia (293-864), No. 22 Florida State (287-868), No. 25 Ole Miss (299-869), Mississippi State (292-876), No. 21 Arkansas (293-876), Mercer (292-879), Auburn (287-885), Western Carolina (299-898), UAB (308-898), Maryland (297-907) and College of Charleston (307-918).
Vanderbilt's Ryan Haselden (67-72-74--213) claimed the individual championship followed by Mississippi State's Carlos Sainz (70-214) in second and Virginia's Will Collins (71-215), Vanderbilt's Jon Curran (68-215) and Arkansas's Jason Cuthbertson (67-215) in a three-way tie for third.
The Tigers return to action March 13-15 at the Southern Highlands Intercollegiate in Las Vegas, Nev.
