Auburn Equestrian Falls to Oklahoma State 11-9

Stillwater, Okla. - The Auburn equestrian team (6-4) was handed its fourth loss of the season Saturday as Oklahoma State (7-5) edged the Tigers 11-9. The Cowgirls defeated the Tigers 6-4 in Western, but lost by virtue of a tiebreaker with 698-676 raw score after tying 5-5 in Hunt Seat.

Auburn lost to Kansas State 11-9 on Friday.

"We gave way too much away today," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "We went out there, and Oklahoma State just beat us. We give kudos to the Hunt Seat girls for pulling out a win in the tiebreaker. Grace Socha did a good job winning MVP in Fences."

Auburn won Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences 4-1 behind MVP Grace Socha, who defeated Alice White 87-80. Other Tiger winners included Maggie McAlary over Ally Blais 84-40, Anna Schierholz over Erin Prutow 81-78 and Jessica Braswell over Taryn Nolte 86-83. Cowgirl winners include Jaclyn Osterstock over Ali Loprete 81-79.

Oklahoma State won Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat 4-1 behind MVP Sam Collingsworth, who defeated Maggie McAlary 75-0 (0 refers to a no score because of a penalty). Other Cowgirl winners included Ally Blais over Jenny Reinhart 76-73, Jordan White over Rebecca Rifkin 72-70 and Charlotte Collingsworth over Katie Breedlove 72-66. Tiger winners included Chelsea Anheuser over Sarah Summers 72-59.

Oklahoma State edged Auburn in Western Horsemanship 3-2 behind MVP Courtney Whitacre, who defeated Kylie Miller 72.5-70.5. Other Cowgirl winners included Jordan Pickelman over Jessica Jones 73-72.5 and Nichole Chirico over Kim Pope 71-0. Tiger winners included Bailey Dymond over Margaux Tucker 70-69.5 and Courtney Kobak over Suzanne Randolph 72.5-71.

Oklahoma State won Western Reining 3-2 behind MVP Rachell Shobe, despite losing to Auburn's Ashton Fairey 72.5-72. Other Tiger winners include Jessica Jones over Leah Kuehn 69-65. Cowgirl winners included Bri Parnell over Paige Monfore 68-66.5, Molly Tipton over Kim Pope 71.5-68 and Jacque Roberts over Lyndsey Jordan 70-66.

Auburn returns to action on March 28 for the final home meet of the season against Tennessee-Martin at the Auburn Equestrian Center.
