STATESBORO, Ga.---The Auburn men's golf team shot a 301 for a two-day 595 total to fall to 16th after the second round of the 18-team Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational Saturday at the par 72, 6,962-yard Forest Heights Country Club.
Senior Glenn Northcutt, who was tied for the individual lead after firing a first round 3-under 69, is tied for eighth after a 74 for a 1-under 143 total. Freshman Kyle Kopsick is tied for 23rd with a 74-146, junior Cole Moreland is tied for 63rd with a 75-151 while freshman Jonathan Fly is tied for 89th at 78-156 and freshman John Stembridge is tied for 91st at 80-157.
"We just couldn't get anything going from any of our guys today," said Auburn head coach Mike Griffin. "We need to come out and finish the final round strong."
Ninth-ranked Florida (287) and 16th-ranked South Carolina (288) are tied for the lead at 3-over 579, one shot ahead of first round leader and 15th-ranked Tennessee at 293-580. No. 14 North Carolina State is in fourth at 287-582 followed by Kentucky (287-584), Georgia Southern (293-584), North Carolina (284-586), North Florida (297-587) and No. 18 LSU (292-588) and No. 21 Ole Miss (293-588) to round out the top 10.
Oklahoma (297-590), Vanderbilt (294-590) and Virginia (294-590) are in a three-way tie for 11th ahead of Augusta State (293-591), Georgia State (297-592), Auburn (301-595), Iowa (294-596) and Notre Dame (298-609).
The Tigers are seven shots out of the top 10 and 11 strokes out of the top five.
