Auburn, Ala. - The sixth-ranked Georgia Bulldogs swept a double-header from the Auburn softball team Saturday afternoon, winning game one 7-2 and game two 10-0.
The teams will conclude the series with a single game Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
Auburn moved to 27-19 overall and 7-12 in the Southeastern Conference. Georgia improved to 32-8 overall and 13-6 in the league.
Christie Hamilton earned the win in game two to improve to 16-6. Hamilton did not allow a run and scattered five hits in a complete-game effort. Hamilton did not issue a walk and fanned six.
Holly Ragsdale took the loss to fall to 3-2. Ragsdale threw 7.0 innings, allowing 10 runs, eight earned, on 16 hits with no walks and no strikeouts.
Georgia plated a run in the first inning when Tori Moody singled home Kristin Schnake from second. Schnake reached on a one-out single and moved to second on a single by Alisa Goler.
A two-out single in the second inning gave Georgia a 2-0 lead. Ashley Pauly doubled with one out and moved to third on a sac bunt. Taylor Schlopy drove her home with a sharp single to right.
Georgia pushed the lead to 3-0 in the third inning when Moody hit a sac fly to center that scored Maya Branch who pinch-ran for Goler, who doubled to open the inning.
The Bulldogs made it a 4-0 game in the fifth when Kristyn Sandberg singled home Brianna Hesson with two outs. Hesson reached on a one-out double.
Georgia padded its lead in the seventh. Tori Moody drove in Goler and Hesson with a single to make it a 6-0 game. Sandberg then followed with a solo home run to center to push the lead to 7-0. Tess Echols made it back-to-back shots when she hit a solo blast to right-center to make it an 8-0 game. With two outs, Schlopy made it 10-0 with a two-run home run to right-center to cap the scoring.
In game one, the Bulldogs hit four home runs to claim a 7-2 victory over the Tigers.
Sarah McCloud earned the win to improve to 13-2. McCloud gave up two runs, both earned, on three hits with four walks and two strikeouts in throwing a complete game.
Anna Thompson took the loss to fall to 13-10. Thompson allowed four runs, all earned, on six hits in 5.0 innings of work. Thompson walked two and struck out four.
Holly Ragsdale threw the final 2.0 innings, allowing three runs, all earned, on five hits with one walk and one strikeout.
The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Ashley Pauly singled to open the inning and moved to second on Lisaira Daniels single. A walk to Taylor Schlopy loaded the bases with no outs. On a ground ball to short by Kristin Schnake, Daniels was called out for running into shortstop Lauren Guzman.
Alisa Goler followed with a sac fly to center that scored Pauly and give the Bulldogs the early lead. With runners at second and third, Thompson fanned Brianna Hesson on a called third strike to end the inning.
Georgia extended its lead in the fifth inning when Schlopy blasted a two-run home run to left-center. It was Schlopy's ninth dinger of the season and came with Daniels aboard to give Georgia a 3-0 lead.
Still in the fifth, Goler made it a 4-0 game with a one-out solo blast to straight-away centerfield. It was Goler's 15th home run of the season.
Kristyn Sandberg made it a 5-0 Georgia lead with a leadoff home run in the top of the sixth inning. It was Sandberg's fifth home run of the season and third UGA home run of the game. Jennie Auger made it back-to-back shots for Georgia with solo homer to left. It was Auger's first home run of the season and pushed the lead to 6-0 for the Bulldogs.
Still in the sixth, Georgia made it 7-0 when Goler's bases-loaded ground out forced Pauly home from third and capped a three-run outburst for the Bulldogs in the inning.
The Tigers got on the board with a solo home run from Kyndall White in the bottom of the sixth inning. It was White's fourth home run of the season and made it a 7-1 game. Tatiana Fernandez followed with a walk and was lifted for pinch-runner Megan Mitchell.
Myesha Finney laced a single to center that moved to Mitchell to third. Amber Harrison brought Mitchell in with a sac fly to left to cut the deficit to 7-2. The Tiger rally ended, however, with a fly out to left from Taryn Gray.
McCloud set the Tigers down in order in the bottom of the seventh for the final 7-2 victory.
