AUBURN - The Tiger Track Classic hosted by the Auburn track and field teams at Hutsell-Rosen Track began Friday with the hammer throw competition. The Tigers had just one competitor during the opening day, as freshman Wesley Wright placed 10th in the men's hammer throw.
Wright finished with a top mark of 53.82 meters (176-7), missing out on a spot in the finals by less than two feet. His third and final throw looked as though it would be good enough to get him into the finals, but he was ruled to have fouled.
All other events during the Tiger Track Classic take place on Saturday. The meet at Hutsell-Rosen Track is free and open to the public. Field events begin at 11 a.m., while running events start at 12:45 p.m. The meet is scheduled to conclude at approximately 7 p.m.
