ATLANTA, Ga. - Four members of the Auburn diving team competed at the Georgia Tech Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center.

Senior Kelly Marx and sophomore Vennie Dantin each recorded third-place finishes in their respective events. Marx took third on the 1-meter springboard with a NCAA Zone qualifying score of 338.40 points. Dantin finished third on the 3-meter springboard with a Zone score of 307.10.

"Both Kelly and Vennie had solid performances today," Jeff Shaffer, head diving coach, said. "Vennie had a great preliminary round and I'm very happy with today's results."

Also competing for Auburn were freshman Thad Ellis and sophomore Mary Catherine Cochran. Ellis finished behind Marx in fourth on the 1-meter with a Zone score of 328.40. Cochran was just three points out of the 3-meter finals, finishing ninth in the preliminaries with a score of 262.90.

"Mary Catherine continues to show improvement and to be here and dive at this level will only help her as the season goes on," Shaffer said. "It is very beneficial for our divers to compete here this weekend since Georgia Tech is hosting our NCAA Zone meet. Everyone competed well and finished the day solid."

Competition continues Sunday as the Tigers will compete on the 10-meter platform.
