AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn diving team closed out the Christmas Diving Classic at the University of Alabama on a successful note to finish competition in 2009.
Senior Kelly Marx captured the 10-meter platform title with a personal-best score of 433.45. Sophomore Adam Godzinski also set a personal-best and finished third overall with 279.30 points. Freshman Thad Ellis closed out competition with a fourth-place finish (271.45).
On the women's side of competition, Vennie Dantin took second on the platform with a Zone qualifying score of 277.15, a mark just .5 away from her career-best. Sophomore Anna Aguero finished third in her first platform competition of the season, recording a score of 253.00.
"Overall, I am very proud of the team's effort here at the end of the semester," head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "We showed a lot positive things and have a lot to look forward to during the upcoming championship season."
The Auburn swimming and diving team returns to competition Jan. 7 when the Tigers head to Austin, Texas, for a dual meet against the Longhorns.
