LAS VEGAS, Nevada - The Auburn men's golf team shot a 17-over 305 to finish 14th in the 15-team Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship with a three-day total of 907 (302-300-305) Sunday at the par 72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Senior Glenn Northcutt finished in a tie for 45th with a 74-226 while freshman Kyle Kopsick tied for 57th at 78-229, junior Cole Moreland (82-230) tied for 61st, freshman John Stembridge (90-231) tied for 64th and freshman Will McCurdy (73-235) tied for 71st.
"We competed in a highly competitive tournament, and it is something that we can learn from and improve upon," said Auburn head coach Mike Griffin. "This will give us much needed experience."
UNLV won the championship with a 282-855, one shot better than No. 3 Oklahoma State (295-856) and three shots ahead of No. 1 Georgia (283-870). No. 11 Florida finished fourth at 872 followed by No. 2 USC (879), No. 12 Georgia Tech (884), No. 4 Clemson (887), UCLA (888), Arizona (892) and Arizona State (894) to round out the top 10.
Charlotte and Texas A&M tied for 11th at 904 ahead of Texas (905), Auburn (907) and California (913).
Georgia Tech's Cameron Tringale won medalist honors with an 11-under 68-205, five shots ahead of USC's Matthew Giles (72-210) and Oklahoma State's Morgan Hoffmann (76-210).
Auburn returns to action in the E-Z-Go Schenkel Invitational March 20-22 at Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.
