Auburn Equestrian Falls to Georgia 5-3 in Hunter Seat National Championship

Waco, Texas - The No. 2-seed Auburn equestrian hunter seat team fell 5-3 today to No. 1-seed Georgia in the hunter seat national championship meet at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships. The Tigers tied 2-2 with the Bulldogs in equitation on the flat, but then fell 3-1 in equitation over fences.

In equitation on the flat, Auburn winners included Ali Loprete over Emma Lipman 166-164 and Maggie McAlary over Michelle Morris 145-142. Georgia winners included Grace Rogers over Chelsea Anheuser 170-167 and Carly Anthony over Katie Breedlove 181-169.

In equitation over fences, Maggie McAlary defeated Michelle Morris 161-154. Georgia winners included Emma Lipman over Grace Socha 151-147, Carly Anthony over Dottie Grubb 178-171 and Kacy Jenkins over Anna Schierholz 177-145.

In individual competition, Maggie McAlary lost to Georgia's Emma Lipman in the quarterfinal round of equitation over fences.
