AUBURN, Ala. - Kentucky scored three times in the eighth inning to even the series at Auburn with an 8-7 win in the resumed game from Saturday. The loss dropped Auburn's record to 26-14, 9-8 SEC while Kentucky improved to 23-16, 6-11 SEC.
Austin Hubbard (3-2) was charged with the loss, allowing an unearned run in two-third of an inning.
Kentucky's Matt Little (2-1) pitched the final four innings to pick up the win despite allowing two runs (both unearned) on five hits.
Auburn' used seven pitchers and combined they issued 10 walks and hit four batters while also allowing 14 base hits to Kentucky.
Kentucky began the suspended game with the bases loaded and one out but Slade Smith needed just two pitches to get out of the jam, inducing a 4-6-3 double play.
The teams traded single runs in the second as Kentucky scored on a Luke Maile RBI single and Auburn answered on Kevin Patterson's 11th home runs of the season, a one-out solo blast to center.
Tony Caldwell's two-out RBI single to right-center in the third scored Hunter Morris following a walk, giving Auburn a 2-1 lead.
Kentucky went up, 3-2, in the top of the fourth on Lance Ray's two-out, two-RBI double off the wall in right-center. The double was Ray's fourth of the weekend.
Auburn tied it at 3-3 when Justin Fradejas drew a bases-loaded walk with none out in the fourth. Auburn was unable to capitalize on the inning however as Mike Kaczmarek came in on the mound and got a pop up and two strike outs to end the Auburn threat.
Smith left after four having allowed three runs on seven hits while Kentucky starter Jordan Cooper allowed three runs on five hits in three innings.
Kentucky went up, 4-3, when Neiko Johnson walked, stole second, went to third on a passed ball and scored on Keenan Wiley's RBI single to right in the top of the sixth.
Auburn reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the sixth on Hunter Morris' bases-loaded sacrifice fly to center and a RBI groundout by Tony Caldwell to go up, 5-4.
Kentucky tied the game at 5-5 when Casey McElroy committed an error at short with two down and a man on third only to have his teammates pick him with a pair of unearned runs off of Little in the bottom half of the frame to go up, 7-5. Creede Simpson reached on an error and scored on Justin Hargett's ground rule double and then Hargett scored on Trent Mummey's double to put Auburn up, 7-5.
Kentucky made it a one-run game when Gunner Glad led off the eighth with his eighth home run of the season and then took the lead on a Chris Bisson RBI single and a Hunter Morris error at first on a Cory Farris grounder. Kentucky tried to get another run, sending Farris home from second on a Chad Wright single to right but Fradejas' strike to home nailed him at the plate, keeping it a one run game, 8-7, in Kentucky's favor.
Fradejas extended his hitting streak to 21 straight with a first-inning single while Mummey's hit in the seventh extended his streak to 12 straight. Morris' single to lead off the eighth extended his hitting streak to 15.
