GREENSBORO, N.C. - Led by Auburn freshman Carlie Yadloczky's 2-under 70, the No. 3 Auburn women's golf team turned in a 9-over par 297 second round at the Bryan National Collegiate to land in ninth place heading into the final round of competition.
The Bryan National Collegiate is co-hosted by North Carolina-Greensboro and Wake Forest and takes place at the par-72, 6,323-yard Players Course at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center.
"We had some really good looks from everybody," Auburn head coach Kim Evans mentioned. "Everybody improved in some form or fashion today and we feel good. It was a really solid day for us."
The Tigers were led by Yadloczky, who entered the day in a tie for 22nd, but following her 2-under second round, landed herself in a tie for sixth at even-par. Her score of 70 ties a season-low for the Casselberry, Fla., native and places her only five strokes out of first place for the tournament.
"Carlie played a really good round for us today and has shown great signs of improvement," Evans said of the freshman.
Following Yadloczky was Haley Wilson, who carded a 2-over par 74 in the second day of play. Wilson now stands at 6-over and is tied for 34th.
Auburn's scorecard was rounded out by redshirt junior Karlin Beck and sophomore Patricia Sanz, who carded rounds of 76 and 77, respectively. Beck enters the final round in a tie for 23rd, while Sanz is locked in a tie for 69th.
The Tigers' fifth competitor, Madison Overbey, tallied a second round total of 11-over par and is in 95th place.
Leading the teams is Florida State after recording the low round of the day at even-par. The Seminoles are at 3-over par and are followed by Wake Forest (+4), Ohio State (+16), Tennessee (+16) and Duke (+17) for the lead.
Individually, Michelle Shin of Wake Forest continues to lead the pack, but is tied with teammate Cheyenne Woods as the two enter the final round at 5-under par. Duke's Lindy Duncan (-3), Florida State's Hannah Thompson (-2) and Tennessee's Nathalie Mansson (-1) round out the top five players.
"They're all showing really good signs of improvement," Evans said. "We are looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow and seeing what we can do."
The final round of play will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. Fans may follow along with live stats at www.GolfStat.com.
