AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn soccer team surrendered a pair of set-piece goals to Ole Miss and fell to the Rebels, 2-1, on a rain-soaked pitch at the Auburn Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon. Ole Miss scored off of a free kick and a corner kick, scoring once in each half, to snap Auburn's winning streak at three and hand the No. 25-ranked Tigers (7-3-0, 1-1-0 SEC) their first Southeastern Conference loss of the season.

"It was a hard fought match," Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa said. "Ole Miss came to play and give them credit, they found a way to get a good result. I felt like we dominated, especially in the second half, but they scored off two free kicks and we got unlucky with getting a goal called back."

Ashley Marks scored Auburn's lone goal in the match, finishing off a nice run by Mary Coffed to tie the game at 1-1 in the 69th minute. Coffed dribbled the ball into the near side of the 18 and crossed a pass to Maddie Barnes, who touched it over a tackling defender to Marks. Marks then took one touch to settle it and one to shoot it past Ole Miss keeper Sarah Story for her third goal of the season.

Ole Miss (5-5-1, 1-1-0 SEC) had taken the 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, capitalizing on an Auburn foul 30 yards out. Taylor Cunningham took the free kick and blasted a shot that Auburn goalkeeper Amy Howard batted up, however her save found the underside of the crossbar and down into the goal for Cunningham's third goal of the season.

Ole Miss scored the game-winner in the 81st minute when Dylan Jordan finished off an Ole Miss corner kick. Again Cunningham was in on the play as she served in the corner, finding Mandy McCalla who then hit Jordan, giving her a fourth game-winner this season.

Auburn out-shot Ole Miss 13-10, including an 11-3 advantage in the second half, drew nine corners to Ole Miss' four and was whistled for just nine fouls to 15 for Ole Miss but Auburn was also called for three off sides, including one early in the second half that negated an Auburn goal.

Auburn returns to the field on Friday in Fayetteville, Ark., when it plays the host Razorbacks at 7pm. It will then travel to Baton Rouge, La., to play LSU at 1pm on Sunday in a match that will air live on COX Television.
