Three Cross Country Runners Named All-SEC First Team

AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn cross country runners Ben Cheruiyot, Holly Knight and Stephanie Barnes were named to the All-SEC First Team after their performances Monday at the 2010 SEC Cross Country Championships the league office announced Friday.

Cheruiyot, a junior from Eldoret, Kenya, ran 24 minutes, 01.36 seconds in the men's 8K race to finish second individually, and earned his second cross country All-SEC First Team accolade.

Seniors Knight and Barnes were named to the women's All-SEC First Team after finishing in second- and seventh-place in the women's 6K run.

Knight, a native of Devon, England, ran a season best 20:49.39 to be Auburn's top finisher of the day, while Barnes, of Clevdon, England, ran a personal-best 21:15.86. This was Knight's second All-SEC First Team honor and Barnes first.

Auburn cross country continues competition Saturday, Nov. 13 at the NCAA South Regionals in Birmingham, Ala.
