BATON ROUGE, La. - The Auburn diving team had another successful day at the LSU Diving Invitational Friday at the LSU Natatorium. Redshirt senior Dan Mazzaferro and junior Anna Aguero each picked up individual titles at the end of competition.
Mazzaferro, a native of Cheshire, Conn., took first on the three-meter springboard with a score of 385.30 points. Aguero, a Moultrie, Ga., product, finished first on the one-meter springboard after recording a score of 289.35. Junior Vennie Dantin also had a solid showing, taking third on the one-meter with 275.90 points.
"Dan (Mazzaferro), Anna (Aguero) and Vennie (Dantin) all did an excellent job competing today," head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "I'm really proud of their performances overall."
Auburn was also represented by sophomore Thad Ellis, junior Adam Godzinski and freshman John Santeiu IV. Ellis finished fifth (326.65) and Godzinski came in seventh (300.70) on the three-meter, while Santeiu was ninth (274.65).
"One of the features of this meet is that it is also a training competition," Shaffer said. "This meet will be very valuable towards the end of the year as we continue to see the areas of improvement."
Competition concludes Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the men and women's platform event.
