SEA ISLAND, Ga. - The Auburn men's golf team (287-859) finished seventh, shooting 7-over in Sunday's final round of the 2010 SEC Championships at the par-70, 7,055-yard Seaside Course in Sea Island, Ga.
Senior Cole Moreland (69-211) led the Tigers in a tie for 12th followed by sophomores Will McCurdy (73-215) and David Zickler (73-215) tied for 18th. Sophomores John Stembridge (72-218) and Kyle Kopsick (75-222) tied for 32nd and 44th, respectively.
"The guys fought hard all weekend," said Auburn head coach Nick Clinard. "We would have obviously liked to have come out with a higher finish, but this tournament was a learning experience. The field was tough as always. We are going to focus on the many things we did right and use them as we move further into the postseason."
No. 18 Georgia (284-844) claimed the team title, followed by No. 16 Florida (277-849), Ole Miss (277-849), Arkansas (289-853), LSU (285-856), Kentucky (285-857), Auburn, No. 25 Tennessee (293-861), No. 12 South Carolina (294-864), Vanderbilt (285-867), Mississippi State (310-875) and Alabama (292-878).
Georgia's Russell Henley (67-204) captured the individual title, defeating South Carolina's George Bryan IV (68-204) in a sudden-death playoff.
