KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Auburn diving team finished competition Wednesday at the Tennessee Diving Invitational with both men and women competing on the platform. The three-day meet was held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
"Our level of focus was a little off today, but I'm pleased with our progress overall," head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "We placed well among our SEC competition and this meet was very good for our confidence as we get closer to championship season."
The Auburn men were represented by redshirt senior Dan Mazzaferro and freshman John Santeiu IV. Mazzaferro finished second overall with 406.16 points, while Santeiu followed with a third-place finish (330.75).
"I'm really pleased with John's (Santeiu) performance at this meet," Shaffer said. "He is progressing wonderfully as a freshman and we're all very proud of his improvement."
On women's side of competition, junior Anna Aguero led the way with a second-place finish with 254.25 points. Classmate Vennie Dantin finished sixth overall and tallied 226.70 points.
The entire Auburn swimming and diving squad returns to competition as rival Texas comes to Auburn. The Auburn women face the Longhorns on Jan. 13 at 5 p.m. and the men take on the defending national champion Longhorns Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. Both meets will be held at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.
