GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Five Auburn divers moved on to Sunday's platform finals at the 2011 SEC Diving Championships on the campus of the University of Florida.
Juniors Anna Aguero and Vennie Dantin each put together solid performances in the preliminary session of the women's platform. Aguero led the way for the duo as she qualified first overall with a career-best score of 295.15 points. Dantin, who fell behind early, hit her third dive of the list to score 78.3 points and get her back into the contest. She finished third with 288.25 points.
A trio of men qualified for the platform finals in redshirt senior Dan Mazzaferro, sophomore Thad Ellis and freshman John Santeiu IV. Mazzaferro, the 2008 and 2009 SEC platform champion, qualified first with 365.15 points. Ellis, competing in his second-consecutive SEC platform final, was third with 333.85 points, while Santeiu was sixth with a score of 321.40.
The women's platform finals kick off at 2 p.m. ET with the men's platform at 3 p.m. ET from the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.
