NEW ORLEANS - The No. 18/20 Auburn women's golf team carded a 10-over-par 298 Monday in the second round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship, finishing the day in 13th with a 24-over 600. Senior Karlin Beck leads the Tigers individually as she is tied for 25th with a 4-over 148.
Hosted by Tulane University, the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship is a three-day, 72-hole stroke play event being held at the English Turn Golf & Country Club. The par-72 course plays at 6,105 yards for the tournament.
Despite a lower score from Sunday's first round, the Tigers dropped a pair of spots in the standings. Auburn head coach Kim Evans said she is disappointed, but likes the progress she is seeing in the team.
"We are very close, we are getting there," said Evans. "It is frustrating to see the progress in your team, but not get great scores out of it. But, we can't dwell on it, we are making good progress and I like where we are headed."
Junior Haley Wilson was the big mover of the day for the Tigers, moving up 26 spots in the standings to a tie for 47th. Wilson rebounded from her first-round 80 to card a 1-under-par 71 in the second round, finishing the day at 7-over 151.
