AUBURN - The Auburn track and field teams began competition at the GaREAT Invitational Friday in Geneva, Ohio, with a light opening day that included just four Tigers competing in two races.
A number of the events slated to be contested on Friday were cancelled due to a lack of entrants in those events. Therefore, the only Tigers in competiton were two men and two women who ran in the unseeded 200 meter "B" races.
In the women's race that included just five participants, Kai Selvon was first with a time of 24.08 seconds, finishing nearly a half second ahead of the next fastest runner. Latoya Parkinson was fourth in 25.56 seconds.
In the men's race, Auburn had two of the three competitors, and had the only two collegians in the field. Clay Porter was second with a time of 22.11 seconds, while Neil Danville was right behind in 22.18.
The rest of the Tiger squad will be in action on Saturday.
