AUBURN - The Tiger Track Classic, hosted by the Auburn track and field teams at Hutsell-Rosen Track, began Friday with the hammer and javelin competitions. Auburn had just a scant few competitors during the opening day of competition, but did have two strong performances.

Redshirt freshman Stephen Saenz finished third in the men's hammer throw, recording a mark of 55.67 meters (182-8), which is just six feet shy of cracking the school's all-time top 10.

In the men's javelin, sophomore Tyler Kennedy finished fourth, recording a personal best of 62.97 meters (206-7), which ranks eighth in school history.

All running events and the remaining field events will take place on Saturday. Field events begin at 11 a.m. while the running events start at 12 p.m. The meet is free and open to the public, and will conclude at approximately 7 p.m.
