AUBURN - Auburn University Athletic Department coaches, administrators and staff members will trade a day at the office for a day of community service in Auburn and Opelika on Monday, April 25.
More than 100 Athletic Department employees will spend the day volunteering at local agencies and sites as part of the Third Annual "Tigers Give Back" Community Service Day.
Athletic Director Jay Jacobs will join those participating, including several head coaches, assistant coaches and support staff.
"We are excited about reaching out into the Auburn and Opelika communities once again for Tigers Give Back Community Service Day," Jacobs said. "We started this initiative to support our student-athletes who have given thousands of hours of community service since they decided a few years ago to make volunteering part of the legacy they want to leave at Auburn. It's a great day because it also gives us a chance to thank the community for all it does for Auburn Athletics and Auburn University."
Athletic staff members will fan out to agencies such as the Boys & Girls Club of Lee County, local schools, nursing homes and the East Alabama Medical Center.
