AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn bats pounded out 16 hits and the Auburn pitching staff held Texas Southern to just five hits as the Auburn baseball team cruised to an 11-1 win on Wednesday night at Plainsman Park.

"We always talk about it starts on the mound and Bradley Hendrix did a great job for us. We needed to get some momentum in our dugout and build something and he did that," Auburn Head Coach John Pawlowski said. "Sean Ray and Jay Wade did a great job pitching. You lose one game and you feel like it has been so long since we played well but you look at it and keep things in perspective. It was a good win for Auburn tonight."

Dan Gamache doubled and homered, driving in three runs, while Bradley Hendrix allowed just one run on three hits in five innings to move to 2-1 on the season.

"It's good to get a good win before we head to South Carolina and try to take care of business there," Gamache said. "We have struggled getting ahead early lately and we went out with a plan and got it done (tonight)."

Justin Fradejas singled twice and hit a solo homer in the second, finishing the night scoring four runs, as Auburn improved to 23-18 before heading to Columbia, S.C., this weekend.

Hendrix, making his second consecutive midweek start, picked up his first win since March 15 in the Capital City Classic as he threw five scoreless innings before departing in the sixth after allowing a run-scoring double, Texas Southern's only extra-base hit of the night.

Blake Austin, making his fourth start of the season, finished the night with a career-high four hits, including a double, and scored twice.

Casey McElroy (2-for-4) and Kevin Patterson (1-for-2) each joined Gamache in driving three runs on the night as Auburn scored three runs in the first, third and fourth and two in the second to jump all over Texas Southern starter David Williams (3-5), who was charged for nine runs on 10 hits and four walks in three innings.

Sean Ray and Jay Wade tossed the final four innings out of the Auburn bullpen, striking out a combined four and allowing just two hits, both coming in the ninth.

The loss dropped Texas Southern to 19-22.
