COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Auburn junior Carlie Yadloczky carded a 2-under 70 in the final round of the "Mo" Morial Tuesday, giving her a 3-under 216 for the tournament and her first career individual victory. Yadloczky led the No. 15/18 Tigers to a runner-up finish in the tournament, finishing just two strokes behind champion Texas.

Hosted by Texas A&M, the "Mo" Morial was a 54-hole stroke play tournament played on the Championship Golf Course at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. The par-72 course played at 6,260 yards for the tournament. The Tigers were one of five nationally-ranked teams in the 11-team tournament.

"This was a great start to the season and I am very proud of the way we fought back today to get into contention to win," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "We had great Auburn team chemistry and that was a lot of fun to coach. We have a lot of work to do over the next few weeks, but I am definitely looking forward to working with this group."

Auburn started the day nine strokes out of the lead, but carded the low round of the tournament, a 1-over 289, to take the lead midway through the round. Texas, who started the day in the lead, was able to recover on the last few holes to take its two-stroke advantage. The Longhorns finished the tournament with a 21-over-par 885 while Auburn finished at 23-over 887.

Three Auburn players finished in the top-20 of the 68-player tournament. Yadloczky finished with rounds of 70-73-70 - 213 to secure the victory. The win was the first individual win by an Auburn golfer since Cydney Clanton won the 2009 NCAA Fall Preview.

"I was very excited about getting my first win, but I was nervous when I got to the last hole, knowing I was in the lead," said Yadloczky. "It was a great tournament, though. My tee shots, putting and short game were really working, I was really on point this week."

Yadloczky's 3-under 213 was also good enough to break into the record books, setting a new tournament record. It broke the previous record of 216 set by Southern California's Paola Moreno in 2007.

"This was a great event for Carlie," said Evans. "She had great composure from the first hole of the first round and continued right up through today. She has been close before, but this was her event and I was impressed with her total game."

Freshman Victoria Trapani finished in sixth place with 5-over 221, carding a final-round 68. Trapani started the day in a tie for 19th and moved up 13 places with the only round in the 60s carded in the entire tournament. Trapani's 68 also set a new tournament record for the "Mo" Morial, breaking the previous record of 69 set by Texas A&M's Isabelle Rosberg in 1996.

Sophomore Marta Sanz posted a final-round 76 to end the tournament at 11-over 227, tying for 13th. Seniors Patricia Sanz and Haley Wilson both tied for 23rd with 15-over 231s. Sanz carded a final-round 75 while Wilson came in with a 78.

Also competing in the tournament was freshman Nicole Quinn, who was playing as an individual. She shot a steady 75-73-73--221 to finish the tournament in a tie for sixth with fellow freshman Trapani.

"Victoria really stepped it up today and gave us a big push for our comeback," said Evans. "And, Nicole Quinn played as an individual, but she really showed she is ready to make an impact on this team."

Texas took the top spot in the season-opening tournament with Auburn just two strokes behind. Southeastern Conference foe Kentucky took third, finishing 27 strokes behind the Tigers at 50-over 914. North Texas finished fourth with a 53-over 917 while Florida State took fifth with a 54-over 918.

With the first tournament of the season under their belt, the Tigers will take a break before returning to action Oct. 7-9 at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
