The No. 22-ranked Auburn soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to six straight matches as twice it answered Colorado goals to earn a 2-2 on Friday afternoon at Denver. The tie moves Auburn's record to 5-1-1 while Colorado is now 2-4-1.

In what was a high-paced game for both squads, both offenses generated 19 shots, putting seven on frame, with each goalkeeper making five saves and allowing a pair of goals.

"We lost the game because we gave up too many shots and we didn't finish our chances; we didn't get enough of our shots on goal," Auburn Head Coach Karen Hoppa said. "I am really proud of the team and the way we tied the game up and a tie is better than a loss, so we will take the result especially given all we have faced this week."

Auburn goalkeeper Aimee Golightly, a junior making her first career start, had a solid match between the posts after rejoining the team earlier this week.

"I was really proud of Aimee. She really did a great job," Hoppa said. "Aimee made some great saves and gave us a chance to win."

Colorado took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute when Amy Barczuk scored from 25 yards out, going to the opposite upper-90 on Golightly.

Katy Frierson's second goal of the season tied the game at 1-1 in the 32nd minute as she blasted a free kick from 22 yards out past Colorado goalkeeper Annie Brunner. Julie King had drawn the foul that set up the free kick, which Frierson sent over the wall and wrapped it inside the post.

Caroline Danneberg put Colorado up 2-1 in the 52nd minute when she converted on a free kick from 35 yards out following a Mary Nicholson yellow card.

Ana Cate's goal from outside the 18 after a give-and-go with Maddie Barnes tied the game at 2-2 in the 66th minute. The goal was the third of the year for Cate, who scored twice in last week's win over Samford, while it was Barnes' first assist of the year.

Tatiana Coleman was inches away from getting a pair of goals in the first half as she hit the crossbar 13 minutes in and then fired one on frame in the 33rd minute from along the goal line that Brunner punched up and into the crossbar for the save, but it kicked out to keep the game tied. Coleman finished the match with a match-high six shots, outing two on frame.

Auburn concludes its trip to Denver on Sunday at 10am MT when it plays host Denver.
