BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Auburn freshman Kane Grimster was named this week's SEC Cross Country Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

The Australia native captured the individual title at the Seminole Invitational this past weekend in Tallahassee, Fla., leading his team to a first-place finish among a field that included the host, Florida State, a team ranked in the top 10.

He helped direct three Auburn runners in the field's top five and four in the top 10.

Competing in just his second career cross country race, Grimster crossed the finish line in 25:30.11 to pick up the win. His time is the second-fastest recorded 8K freshman time in the conference this season.

Auburn Cross Country is back in action on Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational.
