AUBURN - The Auburn equestrian team continued its winning ways, claiming three of four MVP honors and defeating Kansas State 12-6 on Friday at the Auburn University Horse Center.
The Tigers won Equitation on the Flat 4-1. Christina Lin beat Meredith Finch, 84-79, while Anna Becker defeated Rachel Webster, 73-64. Also, Lindsay Portela downed Larissa Laffey 82-79 and Maggie McAlary led the charge winning MVP honors by defeating Kate Hennessy, 88-84.
In Equitation Over Fences, Christina Lin claimed MVP honors by defeating Kali Yates, 85-79, while Jennifer Waxman defeated Rachel Webster, 75-68, and Kate Hennessy fell to Maggie McAlary, 82-63.
"It was a good win," head coach Greg Williams said. "We talked about making sure that we stay consistent and the girls showed up by riding well today. I'm really happy about where we are. Stepping it up and pushing harder is something that these Auburn girls are good at so I know we'll keep performing well."
Cheyenne Cracraft was named MVP of Reining helping Auburn win the event, 3-1. Indy Roper defeated Jesse Johnson 70.5-68.5 while Kristin Hansen beat Alayna Warner, 67.5-63.
"Today everything went pretty well for both Western and Hunt Seat," Cracraft said. "Reining was especially strong today. I think everyone went out there with confidence and rode smart. We took it one step at a time and it worked out. That is definitely what won it for us today."
The Tigers and the Wildcats tied in Horsemanship, 2-2. Stephanie Rucci beat Chayna DeNicolo 73-70.5 and Kristin Hansen just edged Rachel Wetherell, 74.5-74.
The Tigers, having completed a three-meet home stand, will now travel to Brookings, S.D., to face both South Dakota State and Delaware State on Nov. 4-5.
