KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The No. 2/18 Auburn women's golf team finished the first round of the Mercedes Benz SEC/PAC 10 Challenge tied for sixth at 8-over 296. After 18 holes of play, the PAC-12 leads the challenge with an average score of 299.1, compared to the SEC's 301.5.
Hosted by Tennessee, the SEC/PAC-12 Challenge is a 54-hole stroke play tournament being played at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The par-72 course will play at 6,447 yards for the tournament.
The Tigers have two players in the top-25 for the round in Carlie Yadloczky and Victoria Trapani. Yadloczky carded an even-par 72 to tie for 15th with freshman Trapani is tied for 23rd at 1-over 73.
Sophomore Marta Sanz completed the round tied for 32nd at 2-over 74. Seniors Haley Wilson and Patricia Sanz round out the group, with Wilson tied for 78th at 6-over 78 and Sanz tied for 69th at 5-over 77.
UCLA finishes the day in the lead with 7-under 281, followed by Alabama in second at 4-under 284. Host Tennessee carded a 3-over 291 to take third with Colorado and Washington tied for fourth at 7-over 295. Tied at sixth with 8-over 296 are Auburn, Vanderbilt and Arizona.
Individually, Alabama's Stephanie Meadow and Vanderbilt's Lauren Stratton lead with 4-under 68s. UCLA's Stephanie Kono is third with a 3-under 69 while Erynne Lee (UCLA), Hannah Collier (Alabama), Sara Monberg (Tennessee), Mariko Tumangan (Stanford) and Ashleigh Albrecht (Kentucky) round out the top five in a tie for fourth with 2-under 70s.
Tee times are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT, Saturday off the Nos. 1 and 10 tees. The Tigers will tee off No. 1 at 9:20 a.m. CT, playing alongside Arizona, Vanderbilt and Colorado. Fans can follow along with live stats at www.GolfStat.com.
