KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The No. 2/18 Auburn women's golf team carded the low round of the day, a 2-under 286, to finish the second round of the Mercedes Benz SEC/PAC-12 Challenge in third with 296-286--582.
Hosted by Tennessee, the SEC/PAC-12 Challenge is a 54-hole stroke play tournament being played at Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. The par-72 course will play at 6,447 yards for the tournament.
The Tigers have three players tied for 13th in Carlie Yadloczky, Marta Sanz and Patricia Sanz. Yadloczky carded a 72-73--145 and Marta Sanz finished with 74-71--145, carding five birdies on the day. Senior Patricia Sanz ended the day with four birdies and an eagle for 77-68--145.
"Overall we had a really good round," said Auburn head coach Kim Evans. "Patricia had a nice round and Marta got on a hot streak mid-round and really played well."
Freshman Victoria Trapani finished the day tied for 29th with 73-75--148 while senior Haley Wilson rounded out the group tied for 66th with 78-74--152.
"We have to keep doing what we are doing tomorrow," said Evans. "Hopefully tomorrow we can get everybody on board and finish strong."
Alabama finished the day in the lead with 284-289--573, followed by UCLA in second at 281-297--578. Auburn carded a 296-286--582 to take third with host Tennessee in fourth at 291-292--583. Rounding out the top five is Vanderbilt with 296-290--586.
Individually, Tennessee's Nathalie Mansson and Alabama's Stephanie Meadow are tied for the lead at 5-under 139. Milena Savich (Georgia) and Lauren Stratton (Vanderbilt) are tied for third at 4-under 140 while Arizona State's Guilia Molinaro is fifth with a 2-under 142.
In the conference challenge portion of the tournament, the SEC charged into the lead Saturday with a 36-hole average of 598.2. The PAC-12 currently has a 600.6 average.
Sunday's final round will be a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start. Auburn will play with the leaders, starting on Nos. 1-3 with Alabama, UCLA and Tennessee. Fans can follow the action with live stats at www.GolfStat.com.
