AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn's offense exploded for 24 second-half points and the defense stiffened to allow just a final play touchdown as Auburn improved to 6-3, 4-2 SEC with a 41-23 win over Ole Miss on Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Michael Dyer rushed for 177 yards, three shy of his career high, and Clint Moseley tossed four touchdown passes for Auburn, which has now won 13 straight home games.
Dyer and the rest of the Auburn backfield pounded the Ole Miss defense, rolling up 254 rushing yards on 50 carries, averaging better than five yards per carry. Onterio McCalebb picked up 61 of those yards on 15 carries.
Moseley, making his second career start, finished with an 80 percent accuracy, hitting 12-of-15 passing for 160 yards. Emory Blake, who missed two of the last three games and hadn't had a catch since the win over South Carolina on Oct. 1, led the team with 71 yards receiving on five catches, scoring the first of three second-half Auburn touchdowns to give Auburn a 24-17 lead.
Philip Lutzenkirchen had a pair of touchdown catches, putting Auburn up 7-0 in the first quarter and then grabbing a one-handed, four-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter that put Auburn up 41-17.
Quindarius Carr was on the receiving end of Moseley's other touchdown pass, scoring on a 45-yard catch and run in the first quarter that put Auburn up 14-0.
Eltoro Freeman led the Auburn defense with 11 tackles (nine solo) as Auburn surrendered just 48 yards rushing in the second half and 115 yards passing in the final two quarters, 59 of which came on the final drive of the game with Auburn comfortably ahead.
Randall Mackey was 15-of-27 for 114 yards with a touchdown and an interception as Ole Miss dropped to 2-6, 0-5 SEC.
Brandon Bolden led the Ole Miss rushing attack with 117 yards on 13 carries, scoring twice.
Auburn has a bye this upcoming week and returns to the field on Nov. 12 a Georgia.
