AUBURN - The Auburn women's basketball team (2-0) coasted past Belmont (0-3) 80-53 Tuesday night in its home-opener at Auburn Arena, putting the 800th victory in program history in the books. Sophomore Camille Glymph came off the bench, hitting five of Auburn's 10 3-pointers to lead the Tigers with 18 points in the win.

Now in its 41st season of women's basketball, Auburn improved to 800-361 all-time. Auburn head coach Nell Fortner has accounted for 134 of those wins on The Plains.

"I think it's a great milestone for the program," said Fortner. "I'm a very small part of that in my coaching here, but I think it's just a testament to the longevity of basketball and women's basketball here at Auburn. It's nice to be a part of that."

Glymph, who was 5-of-8 from 3-point range, led an Auburn bench in the win that scored 30 or more points for the second game in a row. The Tiger bench scored 31 points, compared to 18 from Belmont.

"Once again, our bench is really providing a lot of good things for us," said Fortner. "We have slow starts and can sub in off the bench and kind of jump start us a little bit. Camille Glymph continues to just really be such a threat on the floor just shooting the ball so well. We have a lot of weapons on this team, and it's nice, as a coach, to be able to go to that as the game goes."

Belmont jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led 18-12 midway through the first half, but Auburn responded well, creating six turnovers en route to a 14-0 run. Glymph provided a spark during the drive, scoring 12 of the Tigers' 14 points.

Auburn kept the momentum and went into the locker room with a 39-25 lead at the half and never looked back. It held the Bruins to just 36 percent shooting from the floor in the second half, while the Tigers went 15-of-26 from the floor.

Glymph was one of three Auburn players in double figures as Tyrese Tanner added 16 points, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range, and Jassany Williams earned 12 points while also adding four blocks.

As a team, the Tigers went 10-of-21 from 3-point range, hitting the most 3-pointers since setting the school record of 12 against Colgate on Dec. 5, 2007. Glymph and Tanner combined for nine of the 3-pointers with Blanche Alverson accounting for the other.

The Tigers also flexed their defensive muscle in the win, forcing 24 Belmont turnovers on 15 Auburn steals that turned into 35 Auburn points. It was the second game in a row for Auburn to score least 20 points off turnovers. Eight different Tigers picked up steals in the game, led by Morgan Jennings and Najat Ouardad with three each.

Jennings, Auburn's converted point guard, neared a double-double in the win as she scored eight points with nine assists. She also tallied just one turnover in the game.

Belmont was led in scoring by Haley Nelson who earned double-double in the loss with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Adrienne Tarrence dished out a team-high eight assists.

Auburn returns to action Friday as it travels to Durham, N.C., to take on the No. 8 Duke. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT, from Cameron Indoor Stadium.
