Auburn Divers Complete Day Two at Georgia Tech

ATLANTA - Three Auburn women's divers and one men's diver advanced to their respective finals Saturday, giving Auburn a second successful day at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

"Overall it was a good day," Auburn head diving coach Jeff Shaffer said. "I'm still looking for a little more out of our men's divers, but they're starting to put things together. Our women again had a very good day with three in the finals; I was really proud of Shanna Schuelein for advancing to her first collegiate final with a personal-best score."

Senior Vennie Dantin finished in second place in the 3-meter final with a score of 336.10, while fellow senior Anna Aguero was fifth with a 323.80. Schuelein advanced to the final as well, finishing 10th with a score of 267.55. Dantin was the top qualifier in prelims with a 328.30; Aguero was sixth (298.70) and Schuelein was ninth with a personal-best 294.65. Freshman Cinzia Calabretta was 15th in prelims with a 262.00.

In the men's 1-meter competition, sophomore John Santeiu advanced to the finals where he finished 10th with a score of 279.45. Santeiu also qualified 10th with a score of 308.80. Freshman Michael Beran was 17th in prelims with a 272.95, and senior Adam Godzinski was 20th with a 253.50.

The men and women will compete in the platform diving event on Sunday. Prelims get underway at 10 a.m. with finals to follow. Live scoring is available through DiveMeets.com.
