Another Strong Day for Auburn at UCF Invite

ORLANDO, Fla. - Auburn's men's tennis team had another strong day at the UCF Invitational, winning seven of nine matches on Saturday against opponents from Miami and Florida-Gulf Coast.

The Tigers swept all three of their doubles matches, all by identical 8-3 scores. Auburn's Alex Stamchev and Daniel Cochrane defeated Gabriel Flores and Diego Soto of Miami, then Dennis Lengsfeld and Lucas Lopasso teamed up to knock off Miami's Victor Mauz and Santiago Nieto. The Tiger team of Rafael Rondino and Michael Wardell made it a doubles sweep with a win over Lance Lvovsky and Colin Brown of FGCU.

In singles, the Tigers took four out of six matches. Stamchev opened things up with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Miami's Omar Aly, and Lengsfeld earned a straight-set win over Miami's Soto, 6-2, 7-6. Wardell also took care of FGCU's Lvovsky in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.

Lopasso dropped the first set to Miami's Mauz, but won the final two in a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 victory. Cochrane fell in three sets to Miami's Flores, 3-6, 7-6, 7-6, and Rondino dropped a three-set decision to Miami's Nieto, 4-6, 6-2, 7-6.

The Tigers will wrap up their fall season Sunday with the final day of competition at the UCF Invitational beginning at 9:30 a.m.
