HOUSTON, Texas - The Auburn women's tennis team finished up the fall season at the Persona Legal Resources Cougar Fall Draw winning two doubles draws and three singles draws on the campus of the University of Houston.
"I'm very happy with how the team ended the fall season," head coach Lauren Longbotham Meisner said. "They have made some solid improvement in a relatively short time. I think a lot of that improvement has brought a lot of confidence and excitement toward the upcoming spring season."
In doubles, sophomore Jacqueline Kasler and senior Taylor Schriemann won their draw after defeating Oregon's Trudie du Toit and Haley Driver in a semifinal thriller, 9-8 (5). In the finals, the Tiger duo raced past Sam Houston State's Tatyana Postnikova and Nadia Dubyanskaya, 8-2.
Freshman Lauren Levant and sophomore Taylor Cohen topped Mariana Perez and Rachel Baldtree of Texas State, 8-5.
The freshman duo of Emily Flickinger and Jen Pfeifler was ousted in the semifinal round of flight by Oregon's Patricia Skowronski and Sofia Hager, 9-7.
In singles, Kasler won a three-set thriller to win the White Flight. The Gulf Breeze, Fla., native defeated Houston's Charlotte Phillips, 6-7 (3), 6-2, 6-1.
Junior Paulina Schippers edged out UALR's Viktoriya Plyuta, 4-6, 7-6 (1), 1-0 (6).
Levant won her flight by toppling Texas-Pan American's Reetta Raty in three sets, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-3.
