No. 3 Women's Golf In Ninth Heading Into Final Round In New Orleans

AUBURN - The No. 3 Auburn women's golf team carded a 12-over 300 for the second day in a row at the AllState Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship, finishing the day in ninth place with a 24-over 600.

Hosted by Tulane, the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship is 54-hole stroke play tournament being played at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans, La. The par 72 course is playing at 6, 105 yards for the tournament.

"We didn't get around the course as well as we could have today," head coach Kim Evans said. "We have several areas to work on this afternoon to put together a better round tomorrow."

Sophomore Marta Sanz finished the day tied for 10th, carding a second round 73 for a total of 30over 147. Behind her was freshman Victoria Trapani in a tie for 23rd after her round of 75 moved her to 5-over 149.

Senior Patricia Sanz carded rounds of 75-76--151 to finish the day tied for 36th, while sophomore Diana Fernandez is tied for 43rd with rounds of 77-76--153. Senior Haley Wilson is tied for 60th with 79-79--158.

Junior Carlie Yadloczky is playing as an individual and carded a second-round 73. She is currently tied for 16th with a a 4-over 148.

"We are going to work really hard to finish strong tomorrow," Evans said.

Southern California finished the second round in first at 9-over 585, followed by Duke in second with 13-over 589. Colorado is in third at 14-over 590 with Baylor in fourth at 15-over 591. Florida rounds out the top five with at 17-over 593.

Individually, Oregon's Cassy Isagawa is in first at 8-under 136, followed by Southern California's Lisa McCloskey in third with 2-under 142. Southern California's Doris Chen is tied for third with Baylor's Chelsey Cothran at 1-under 143. In fifth is Colorado's Alex Stewart carding an even-par 72.

Tuesday's final round is set to begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. Auburn will start on holes 7-9, playing alongside Alabama and Texas A&M. Fans can follow all the action with live stats at www.GolfStat.com.
