No. 2 Auburn, Barber in Third at Schenkel Invitational

STATESBORO, Ga. - The No. 2 Auburn men's golf team (282-277--559) jumped into third place after an 11-under 277 in the second round of the E-Z-GO Schenkel Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. The Tigers trail No. 3 Alabama by 22 strokes and Virginia by just one stroke. No. 25 Florida, Alabama-Birmingham and Ole Miss are tied for fourth at 11-under.

"We played well on the front nine, but we just didn't finish the round," head coach Nick Clinard said. "We played the par-5s poorly, and for us to accomplish our goals this season, we must find a way to be better with our scoring clubs and putter. We are close, but we need a lot of work to be great."

The Tigers were led by junior Blayne Barber who fired a 5-under 67 in Saturday's round. Barber is currently in third place on the leaderboard, two shots behind Virginia's Ben Kohles. Senior Will McCurdy (-4) carded a 3-under 69 and is currently tied for 12th.

Sophomore Niclas Carlsson also shot a 3-under 69 on Saturday and is tied for 19th. Junior Michael Hebert shot an even 72 and is tied for 37. Junior Dominic Bozzelli is tied for 41st at 2-over for the tournament after shooting a 1-over 73. Freshman Michael Johnson, playing as an individual, is tied for 23rd at 2-under after a 1-under 71 second round. The
