STATESBORO, Ga. - The No.2 Auburn men's golf team captured its sixth top-three finish of the season after finishing tied for third with No. 25 Florida at E-Z-GO Schenkel Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga. The Tigers shot an even 288 in the final round of play to finish the tournament at 17-under.

No. 3 Alabama won the tournament by 22 strokes after shooting a tournament record 47-under. Virginia came in second place at 25-under while UAB rounded out the top-five at 9-under.

"Blayne (Barber) played very well as did Niclas (Carlsson) and Will (McCurdy)," head coach Nick Clinard said. "We need to have more production from the rest of the team though. It is going to be an interesting week to see who will make the lineup for our next tournament, and it is wide open at the moment."

Junior Blayne Barber (-15), who was the only player in the field to card a bogey-free tournament, finished in second place, his best finish of the season, after shooting a season-best 201 for the tournament. Barber has now finished in the top-five four times this season.

Sophomore Niclas Carlsson finished tied for 13th, his fifth top-20 finish of the year, after a 1-under 71 third round. Carlsson's 212 for the tournament was his lowest score of the season. Senior Will McCurdy carded his third top-20 finish after finishing the tournament tied for 16th. The Fort Payne, Ala., native shot a 1-over 73 in the final round.

Juniors Michael Hebert and Dominic Bozzelli finished tied for 54th at 6-over after shooting a 222 for the tournament. Freshman Michael Johnson, who played as an individual, finished tied for 42nd at 4-over.

The Tigers return to action on March 25 to compete in the Hootie at Bulls Bay tournament in Awendaw, S.C.
